The Indiana State House

I took my students to visit the State House this fall,

which was beautiful and interesting, although the tour was supposed to be 30-45 minutes, and ended up being 2 hours.

But my students (have I mentioned that they're excellent?) seemed super engaged, despite the tour length.

This mural from the House chamber evidently depicts, on the left, "the cauldron of education," but I've never heard of that, so I maintain it's a tornado, which is Indiana-appropriate.

The most interesting political tidbit I picked up is that Indiana has a soft veto, which can be overruled, I believe, by a repeated majority vote.
