According to Fred, most of the houses in the Caymans were destroyed in Hurricane Ivan in 2004. They were rebuilt as concrete rather than wood. However, there are a couple of old houses still on the island. The Old Homestead, built in 1912, is one of those.
As far as I understand, the traditional landscaping is gardens lined with shells. The gardens are minimal, with tropical plants spaced throughout the yard and the sand combed.
