Dillard has been in LA for about six years, and I finally had the chance to go see her! What I really wanted to do was drive down Route 1, but that dream, like so many, has been deferred: it was cheaper to fly. Plus, who wants to drive down a scenic highway alone? Clearly, one wants to be driven down a scenic highway, preferably by a dashing man in a convertible, while wearing sunglasses and a scarf (me wearing the sunglasses and scarf, not him).
So, it turns out that Dillard's Pasadena is the home of the City Hall used in Parks and Rec! And what an incredible City Hall it is.
There's also a lovely courtyard with a fountain.
The Los Angelians (?) I met during my trip all played right into the caricatures of people from LA--namely, I heard much more talk about movies and tv than I'm accustomed to. I'm certainly not complaining. Now I know that Zero Dark Thirty will win movie of the year (says the film critic friend of a friend of a friend).

Well, he could wear sunglasses. But not a scarf.
Los Angelenos?
