Heavenly Bodies at the Met




A gown for a statue of Mary made, I think, by Yves Saint Laurent.


This was what we were really there for--the vestments from the Vatican. This was the only picture I got, though, as I guess you aren't supposed to take pictures, sadly. The embroidery, as in this depiction of Cain and Abel, was incredibly detailed and gorgeous. What beautiful artwork, I think mostly done by women.

There were also some very cool papal tiaras, including one with 19,000 jewels, supposedly mostly diamonds, on it.
