Thank heavens. We needed it. (Pictures from the snow earlier in the week.)
Saturday: Francisco generously took Q to his basketball game. In the late afternoon we walked two miles to see The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. The movie was not quite as great as I hoped, but a solidly good movie that the kids and I enjoyed and Francisco laughed once during. I cried when the 3 kings brought a ham down the aisle.
When we got there, they told us that that theater was quite cold and they recommended not attending, but that if we wanted to go anyway, it would be half off. You know I love a deal, especially a surprise deal. We couldn't walk home movie-less after walking so far to get there (the teenager selling us the ticket called us "pioneers"). So we watched the movie cold. And indeed, it was freezing by the end. But we survived and popped into McDonalds and Starbucks on the way home to warm up.
Sunday: Mass (music happily with a trumpet) (a visiting priest went into some depth about pornography, which meant I was forced to explain it to Q in the middle of the mass, which displeased me greatly--these priests need to realize that people of all ages are there and that children don't need to be bombarded with the worst parts of the world in mass of all places--and there are euphemisms. I mean I don't know a euphemism for pornography myself, but I bet there is one if we think creatively), donuts and religious education for the boys, raking and odds and ends in the afternoon. And lots of Carry On, Mr. Bowditch. Awaiting Francisco's pea soup for dinner--first of the season.
