The Week

I finished grading and submitted grades. We took Blaze to an eye appointment to monitor him for the special condition that he may or may not have (his vision is great!). The eye doctor was explaining some stuff about the eye's connection to the brain to us because I was fascinated. The eye doctor was not a great communicator, both in terms of the clarity of his speech and the speed of his speech and the comprehensibility of the words he used. After he was done, Blaze declared with enthusiasm, "I didn't understand a word you just said!"

Then I rushed over to tennis. We were poorly matched--my team shut out the other team and it didn't make me too tired.

Then Blaze went to his piano lesson and right to cookie decorating, where he leads the way. Then we tried to take some cookies to the neighbors. They mostly weren't home, except for one family.

Blaze asked if we could go caroling. I told him that we could sing when we brought the cookies. I soon learned that the aspect of caroling that he was interested in was when the people you were singing to gave *you* snacks. He declared what we were doing as *the opposite* of caroling. (In the tradition of Richard Wilber's charming opposites.)

Yes, I am totally delighted by student notes on their finals.
