Stearns: Why Slovaks have healthy gums and excellent eyesight

My favorite Slovak dessert so far: orange slices in shredded carrots. Surprisingly good and (less surprisingly) very orange.

(Does eating this mean I’ve broken my Lenten resolution to give up sweets? I'm afraid I was too desperate for citrus to pass this up. I worry constantly about scurvy.)

orange slices and carrots definitely do not count as sweets.

Especially if you eat them to prevent scurvy. Then they're medicinal.
