The Arlington Library Book Sale is October 20th-23rd. Drop everything and go. Thursday night is for members only (which is to say you pay about $5 at the door to get in). Friday and Saturday are the general sale. Sunday it's half price. I typically go on Thursday and Sunday or early Friday morning and Sunday. But this year I'll be traveling, so I don't know if I'll make it. I would probably recommend traveling up to three or four hours to attend this sale, as long as you have friends in DC to catch up with (and who doesn't?).(picture)
