Cardigan and I took an architectural boat tour. It was a great way to explore Chicago's great buildings and history from the cold, windy river. Every time I've been in Chicago so far, the boat tour has been closed for the winter, so we had to take advantage of it while we could, even if it was November.
The architecture along the river is astounding in its quality and variety, as well as in its height (although the tour perhaps erred on the side of overemphasizing the importance of height--it seemed like every single building was the tallest in some category--including a building that is the tallest built by an architectural firm headed by a woman, which seems a little condescending to me, but I was on a feminist kick for the weekend, as I always am around Lawrence).
The corncobs.
The tour guide suggested that the giant blue curved building below is one of the most well-loved in Chicago. I'm not buying it, but it's alright.
