Yesterday involved a long conversation with a dear retired colleague and mentor and friend over coffee. I haven't seen him since before we left, so there was a lot to catch up on. And a long research conversation with another colleague.
I'm trying to pack and finish up the too many loose ends I stuck into these days. I really need a bunch of time to plan my spring course. Deep breaths.
The other night there was a reconciliation service at our church, which was wonderful. I loved seeing so many people at confession at the same time--what a joyful practice.
Blaze's teacher made him a pancake breakfast for Christmas; her daughter knitted hats for the whole class based on their coloring. Q's class, too, is full of wonderful special activities.
Blaze this morning made an extended metaphor comparing his memory to the gas in a car: "My memory of some things is pretty bad, because my memory is pretty full! If I want more room, I have to get some energy and then run around for a while."
