Easter Holiday

Today we took a train south and then headed on a 2 mile ramble to a house we wanted to visit.

It was incredibly muddy--and we don't have the proper footwear. But it was a lovely walk through rural England. The birds and the fields.

The boys were happier in mud than on our usual city streets.

Though at least one of the muddy patches seemed to have lots of manure in it, because I smelled our shoes for the rest of the day.

The photos do not capture it well, but we saw bluebells in the forest--sublime. Also a sunken path from East Coker (not pictured). A good walk.

The house we visited was a National Trust arts and crafts house full of William Morris textiles. It had a nice garden, and the boys liked the Easter trail, with lots of games and a chocolate egg at the end.

The embroidered bedspread hanging on the wall (left) was incredible.

The Yellow Wallpaper.

Another ridiculous bedspread.

His honeysuckle pattern might be my favorite.

This area under the stairs was my favorite.

I love this secretary.

These tricolor flowers are incredible. I say tricolor, but they are just all the colors.

I think the rhododendrons are just about to open?
