One person I was talking to last week used both the words "chuffed" ("I'm feeling chuffed") and "chirpy" ("I'm feeling chirpy") in conversation. This is such a funny place.
Yesterday the chaos all caught up with me, and I had to spend the afternoon in bed, totally overwhelmed. This is a very humbling illness for me.
But there were many wonderful parts of the day--Francisco made an enchilada feast. We played Cockroach Poker with our guests. We also tried to make origami and had to give up because it was way too hard. I picked up the cheap leftovers from our app--I was finally able to get them from our favorite French cafe--for just a couple of pounds we got two small quiches and a ton of bread. My friend and I stayed up chatting after the kids went to bed (and our husbands went out for a pint).
This morning Q was delightful--he unloaded the dishwasher without being asked (?!) and spent the rest of the morning before school playing with our youngest guest. Q loves little kids. This was so so happy for me to watch.
Before bed, the boys and I were talking about the rhyme schemes of sonnets (we're prepping for our next trip by reading Wordsworth), and Q asked about limericks, so we talked about their form and read some. At one point, Blaze burst out laughing (because, of course, they are very funny). It is a delight to teach Q--his very quick mind apprehends the point so quickly and with so little effort.
