Summer

Today was Blaze and Mama's Excellent Adventures. Actually, I just took him to a children's museum and worked while he played.

(We did talk about the human body using these cool models!)

After that he got video games and a "Wonut" (waffle donut, which is a very PA invention and sort of tasted like a funnel cake), while I worked. This decor is also very PA.

I also forced him on a walk in the afternoon heat, which was a mistake for both of us that we solved with a McDonald's hot fudge sundae on the way home. We "split" it. (I begged for a few bites.)

Nana and Papa took Blaze to the creek after dinner.

Before bed, I spent some time with the lightening bugs--they play in the branches of the hemlocks like Christmas lights. You can hear the creek, and see the dusky clouds like night time Turners. I think it's the cicadas I heard? And then there were bats swooping down. Do they eat the lightening bugs? And stars popping out. Then suddenly there was some little bug or creature too close to me, and I was thinking too much about the bats and I headed up to bed.

I think I am possibly the most relaxed I have ever been in my whole life. I'm hoping to keep some bit of this when I leave.

Francisco is visiting Houston for the storm. Fingers crossed that he can fly tomorrow!

Reading: Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, which I am enjoying so much.

And Mary Astell, A Serious Proposal to the Ladies, which I am enjoying a lot, too.
